Universal Bodies - Mandala

Tempe - Arizona

Laser Cut Baltic Birch, Cocobolo connectors, Milled aluminum, Gyroscope.

Universal Bodies was conceptualized as a critical exploration of Japanese art history, serving as both artistic expression and a tool for meditation. This three-dimensional kinetic mandala embodies the essence of centering oneself, offering a tangible microcosm of the meditative journey.

Designed using gimbals, the structure harnesses the energy of a gyroscope, bringing the mandala to life. Just as universal bodies set in motion tend to remain in motion, the mandala continuously seeks balance, stillness, and its own center of gravity.

As external forces interact with the mandala, its gyroscopic core instinctively adjusts—adapting, recalibrating, and persistently charting a course toward stillness and nirvana. It stands as a poetic representation of the human pursuit of inner harmony amidst the ever-changing forces of the external world.

Universal Bodies.
